So we brought home some ramen bowls for dinner tonight, from the newly opened Bishop location of Gojira Ramen. It's in the strip mall on the way out of town, next to the Subway sandwich shop.
I had the spicy "Gojiramen" bowl, which is a traditional Tonkotsu style ramen, and my wife had the regular (non-spicy) version. What I really like is that the bowl and broth are separate for to-go orders. You get the broth in a big styrofoam container, and you pour it into your bowl when you get home. That's a GREAT way to serve it for to-go orders, since you can heat up the broth before you pour it into your bowl. Keeps it very warm, and none of the ingredients (especially the greens) are all soggy by the time you get it home.
Of course, if you eat it in the store, then the broth is just in your bowl, nice and hot.
Here's a couple of pics of my spicy Gojiramen bowl, with a side of gyoza (gyoza is sort of like pot stickers, except fried):
This is just the bowl on the dining room table, with the side of gyoza:
The portion is generous, as well. I was totally stuffed after having most of it. If you like good ramen, be sure to give it a try. Very solid authentic style ramen. I know it's summer right now, but I can't wait to have a piping hot bowl of ramen in the dead of winter here in Bishop. Mm-MM good!
Apologies for the instability. I'm still working on phpBB extensions, and have broken the code multiple times.
